Installing NetBackup on Linux

Installing NetBackup on Linux is actually quite trivial. However, recently while building a new NetBackup master server from scratch I found an issue. I'd install the software only to find that the main component, the Enterprise Media Manager (EMM) would barf and die. Turns out the reason for this was trivial. DNS wasn't set up properly on the host and it was unable to resolve it's own name. As such, when you install the software and it tries to install the database that the EMM uses, it fails as it can't connect to the host the database is meant to be installed and running on. As such, the database never installs and EMM can never start! SO make sure DNS on your host is able to resolve it's own name!
